NIGHT SNORKELING IS SO COOL

WOW WOW WOW I HAD SO MUCH FUN LAST NIGHT.
Night snorkeling is one of the COOLEST things ever and definitely a 10/10 recommend. Our night started with a boat ride to Hol Chan as the sun began to set. It was such a beautiful night and the sky was clear as could be. Once we got there we got set with our snorkel mask and fins and jumped in the water as the sun finished setting. Watching the sun reflect off the water while being in it was incredible. Our guide, Manuel, was also incredible. You could tell how passionate he was about sea and all of the beautiful things in it. He took his time pointing out and explaining each and every thing the sea had to offer and made our experience unforgettable.
Our snorkel began with a bright green eel underneath us in the coral. He came in and out of the hole he lived in and I was honestly slightly terrified as I swam over him. Next, we saw stingrays! SO MANY STINGRAYS. The class I spent my internship in recently sparked my love for stingrays so I could not handle my excitement. The Spotted Eagle Ray was my favorite and the most specular. After the stingrays we saw shrimps, baby puffer fish, sea cucumbers, a lobster, starfish, sea urchins, BARRACUDAS AND TWO OCTOPUS. Manuel was very nonchalant as we passed the barracudas but shrieked with joy at the sight of the octopus. It was AMAZING. The octopus was hunting in the coral and we watched as he stuck his tentacles in each crack while changing colors to adjust to the different coral. Just wow.
Night snorkeling was unforgettable. I had THE BEST time ever and couldn't stop smiling the rest of the night. I'm still amazed at my experience of the wonders of the ocean.
